Alexis Torres Marroquín is a Salvadoran-American artist, designer, and educator currently based in Richmond, Virginia. His multidisciplinary practice uses sensuality as a methodological framework to explore ways of addressing queer historical erasure and heteronormative violence in the built environment within Central America and the American Northeast. Alexis’ mediums include installation art, soft sculpture, fiber art, mixed-media collage, and watercolor portraiture. His work has been featured in publications such as Suboart Magazine and The Bureau of Queer Art.
Alexis holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Cornell University School of Architecture, Art, and Planning and is currently pursuing his Master of Fine Arts degree in Sculpture and Extended Media at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts. Alexis has worked as a full-time educator and programs assistant at the Parrish Art Museum in Long Island, New York.
